Day 11 Lockdown 3.0: Building my skills

With the chilliest weather in town, I’m not big on venturing out of my house. However, today I had to do just that. Frustratingly My SD card stopped working. I ordered a new one from Currys and didn’t want to wait 4 to 6 days for its arrival, despite the free delivery. The card was available to be picked up within hours from Currys in Stratford Westfield. I opted for the quicker option.

For over a decade photography has played an extensive role in my life. It came into my world the day I invested in a cropped Canon DSLR. The first year I started working I promised to upgrade to a professional camera. Not knowing much about DSLRs or how to use them. It was kind of an impulsive buy. At the time of the purchase, I quizzed the sales consultant over and over to help get me started. The moment I got my camera home I began my new journey of snapping. I had now stumbled upon a skill that expanded year after year. I could say I’m an amateur or a professional, a product photographer or a street photographer. However, whatever I choose to be to this day I’m still learning something new. I don’t know where my life would be without my camera, empty would be a start.

My lens allows me to creatively capture the world as I see it, through discipline and dedication. I’ll imagine new shoots before pointing my camera. Though not all my photos would come out the way I vision them in my mind. My struggle, however, became my skill. Sometimes greatly surprised or disappointed at the turnout. Though I can say mistakes or experiments on the whim have become masterpieces.

  1. It sucks that your SD card stopped working, I hope that there was no important photos on there that you had not already backed up. That happened to me a few years back, and it sucked cause I had a lot of photos on there. I remember when I first got my DSLR camera back in high school, I was so proud to save up my money to purchase it, and it’s been pretty life changing. I have definitely improved my skill as well (even though I don’t really show a lot of my photos on my blog for some reason?). I love learning how to get better at using lightroom, it’s definitely one of my favorite things. It’ good that you’re looking at the brightside, and looking at it as a time to improve your craft. Hope you’re doing okay, and happy new year! xxx

    1. Happy new year. It’s such an exciting moment buying a DSLR, I was so proud of it lol. I did have a few pictures on there that I had luckily shared them on Facebook, but some were not backed. I’m the same, sometimes I share my photos if I travel, but majority of the time I use stock images on my blog posts. Its only recently with all the given time, that I’ve been practising and uploading pictures on to my Instagram. Hope your doing well.
