Inspired by Daisy Butter’s open-hearted joys. I am a fan of her daily blogs. They take me back to the early days of blogging when daily uploads were a thing and every other influencer spent time typing up 100-plus words alongside uploads of grainy camera phone photos.
January is almost over, and it only took about 72 days. I quite enjoyed the elongated month. Slowly pacing through the days of Self-improvement. I have watched, read, liked, shared and saved many, many videos, reels, posts and stories on disappearing for 6 months to work on being the better version of myself. I don’t quite know how I’ll be in five months, regardless I can’t wait to meet the new me.
Most of my preparation for this year is to walk everywhere, the legendary hour-long walks are a must and will always be a part of my daily self-care routine. Lockdown started a trend. The year ahead looks nature-filled, with fun and new experiences on a budget. It’s more about what’s going on, on the inside than the outside. I heard a quote (through a meme) that said “you can wakeup early, drink your water, take your vitamins, go to the gym, eat healthy, but until you figure out what’s in your head and your heart, you’re not healthy”.
Reflections for this week.
The more I journal the more I appreciate the little things in life. Those things that we call little are actually not so little and in fact huge. The necessities that are at arms reach are well and truly a luxury. Here’s to the moments that have made my heart smile.
- Discovering new authors. The moment when I’m in the middle of reading a book by an author who’s new to me and I connect with the words, wanting to continue reading even though I’ve come to the last page.
- Listening to audiobooks whilst walking. This really does put my mind off everything and brings me a good amount of peace and clarity.
- Discovering audiobooks, honestly, where has my old-fashioned self been?
- Daily logo challenges are helping me not only grow my portfolio but also my skill and confidence in what I would love to do.
- Blogging more frequently. I’ve missed this.
